I saw an orange-tip butterfly in one of our flower borders, which is unusual because this butterfly is usually seen near water, and they are rarely seen in gardens.
Maurice Pons reports male emperor moths with peacock butterflies at Leasowe last week, and orange-tip butterfly there this week, with speckled wood in Liverpool.
No sign of butterflies, but not many butterflies are born from pupae in early spring, apart from the orange-tip butterfly, which is usually about in late April or early May.
