It included the band of the Wellesley naval training ship, the South Shields Pilots Association, Volunteer Life Brigade, the Knights of Labour, the Ancient Order of Druids, the Ancient and United Orders of Free Gardeners, the Oddfellows Friendly Society, Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes and Green's Sailor Boys Home.
These have now been added to the three erected in 2006 - at t' Owd Towser, the Beast Market in Hollowgate and at the Toll House: Druid's Hall - Built in 1846 for the Ancient Order of Druids Friendly Society, from 1849-1860 it served as a chapel for the United Methodist Church, Holmfirth Rifle Volunteers and then drill hall in 1892.
Since 1975, there has been a neo-pagan Secular Order of Druids which has been in charge of the annual midsummer solstice celebrations at the ancient site.
