Yves Smets, MD of Leiden University Medical Centre in the Netherlands and colleagues compared long-term survival of 330 patients treated with kidney transplantation alone with 85 patients who received combination pancreas-kidney transplants.
The results of the largest and longest follow-up study of patients undergoing simultaneous pancreas-kidney transplants indicate a high success rate for the procedure.
