A city of northeast India on the Ganges River northwest of Calcutta. It served as Asoka's capital in the 3rd century b.c. and as a Mogul viceregal capital in the 16th century. Population: 1,370,000.

Another interesting place worth visiting, while in this city is the Patliputra Temple and inside the temple is located the Akshaya Vat, literally meaning, Immortal Tree.
The students have been admitted to Patliputra Medical College.
The Rashtriya Janata Dal of Lalu Prasad Yadav and the Lok Janshakti Party of Ram Vilas Paswan, which ditched the Congress, have been reduced in size with the RJD barely managing to open its account and its supremo Lalu losing the Patliputra seat and winning the Saran seat by a slender margin.
