In the Caribbean, the Larimar Museum of the Dominican Republic is exhibiting an original collection of blue pectolite, a semi-precious stone found only in the earth's crust in the province of Barahona in the southwestern region of the Dominican Republic.
A number of displays, for example, track larimar's fiery geological genesis of 100 million years ago when fierce volcanic eruptions crystallized blue pectolite and other minerals, forcing them into naturally occurring shafts within the earth's crust.
