1. Having the nature of or characterized by periphrasis.
2. Grammar Constructed by using an auxiliary word rather than an inflected form; for example, of father is the periphrastic possessive case of father but father's is the inflected possessive case, and did say is the periphrastic past tense of say but said is the inflected past tense.

Moreover, some adjectival expressions were included that were used periphrastically, that is, used as trait expression but not directly attributed to persons, for example of a noble site ([TEXT NOT REPRODUCIBLE IN ASCII]), enduring ([TEXT NOT REPRODUCIBLE IN ASCII]), and undersized ([TEXT NOT REPRODUCIBLE IN ASCII]).
Nevertheless, the sense of the missing impersonal forms of pidama can be expressed periphrastically, by combining a 3sg form, such as present peab, with the impersonal infinitive, which is formally a supine (ma-infinitive) form based on the impersonal stem.
The comparator is another functional category, this time adjective-related, which may be expressed periphrastically (more beautiful, less beautiful) or morphologically (nicer).
