Risk factors for tongue cancer include a poor diet (Macek, Reid & Yellowitz, 2003:120), poor oral hygiene, poor dental care (Becker, Naumann & Pfaltz, 1994:381), poverty, HIV-infection and pre-existing leukoplakia or erythroplakia (Hille & Shear, 2002:411).
The initiator used was methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (MEKP; Aldrich) and the promoter was cobalt octoate (6% cobalt octoate in mineral spirits; Pfaltz & Bauer).
