In the first place it is not philosophy in the sense we speak of the philosophy of Kant and Hegel.
Other strong influences on his philosophy, besides his own Unitarian background, were Plato and the Neoplatonists, the sacred books of the East, the mystical writings of Swedenborg, and the philosophy of Kant.
Using the philosophy of Kant, he reconciles such forces as religion, philosophy, and science in such a way that the German comes out the savior and leading power of the world.
