Not your everyday chile relleno, it's a roasted chile poblano stuffed with a savory pork-and-fruit picadillo filling, covered in a delicate fresh-walnut cream sauce and topped with pomegranate seeds -- an amazing mix of flavors and textures.
The Cuban picadillo ($8) didn't astound us as did the other small plates, but still tasted fine.
For a taste of Cuban appetizers, order the Casa Don Rolando sampler platter ($13), which includes two delicious mashed potato balls filled with ground beef picadillo cooked with Spanish olives, onion, garlic, and red and green bell peppers (also offered as an entree), breaded and fried until dark brown; four deep-fried ham croquette fingers; both a chicken (white meat) and beef (more picadillo) fried empanada; and a Cuban tamale.
