I WAS glad to see the pied wagtail
roosting in Tesco, Norfolk, was saved from the firing squad.
I've always been a birdlover - n othing excites me more than seeing a pied wagtail
frolic in foliage - b ut wouldn't it be wonderful to see 20 bird names up there?
I've been seeing good numbers of white wagtails, the continental version of our cheeky pied wagtail
, on the Conwy estuary this week, with loose groups of up to 30 over the weekend, and a few wheatears among them.
Of the 50 species it uses, the meadow pipit, reed warbler, dunnock and pied wagtail
are the most favoured.
As I worked, I turned my head and watched, somewhat behind me, a pied wagtail
pecking and picking the grubs and seeds from the lines and I suddenly thought about Jesus telling us to consider the birds.
Even a wren made a brief appearance in the undergrowth, as did a pied wagtail
on the playground.
I have seen a hawk, sparrow hawk, kestrel, cuckoo, pied wagtail
, greenfinch, goldfinch, jay, nuthatch, woodpecker, owl and many more regular visitors.
Photographs of different species of birds were on display, including Grey Headed Woodpecker, Grey Treepie, Black Lored Tit, Black Throated Tit, Grey Hooded Warbler, Himalayan Bulbul, Green Beater, Common Hooper, Jungle Babblers, Blue Whistling Thrush, green backed tit, blue-throated barbet, yellow billed blue magpie, large pied wagtail
, gray winged blackbird and black necked stork.
No work can be done on equipment where the Pied Wagtail
is nesting until her five chicks have hatched and flown the nest.
The island also saw its first white wagtail of the year, the continental version of our pied wagtail
