Pskov  (p-skôf, pskôf)
A city of west-central Russia south-southwest of St. Petersburg. Dating from the eighth century, it became an important trade center and was annexed by Moscow in 1510. Population: 200,000.

2. (Placename) Lake. the S part of Lake Peipus in NW Russia, linked to the main part by a channel 24 km (15 miles) long. Area: about 1000 sq. km (400 sq. miles)
