L'Opera de Quebec General and Artistic Director Gregoire Legendre's bid to keep up the momentum of Quebec City's 400th anniversary celebrations last year got a boost when Placido Domingo, who held his Operalia singing competition in the city last fall, agreed to preside over the first International Festival of Opera, slated for the summer of 2011.
The cast is led by Placido Domingo and the screening runs from 6-11pm with two half-hour intervals at just after 7pm and 9pm.
Legendary Spanish singers Jose Carreras and Placido Domingo will perform at the ceremony at London's Royal Albert Hall in May, although it is not yet clear whether they will sing together.
