Schmalz and others said it will be difficult to reconcile the Western Church's beliefs in the pope's infallibility and central authority with the more autonomous governance and interplay practiced by the Eastern Church's patriarchs.
Ironically, at the same time that the Vatican was learning to trust world capitalism with its money, it was also taking advantage of the Pope's Infallibility to issue regular encyclicals--pronouncements on ethics to the faithful--denouncing capitalism.
I would nearly question the Pope's infallibility before I would question Seamus.
