The museum owns more than 800 of the 902 letters known to have been written by the Dutch Post-Impressionist master.
The historians, in Hamburg, cited correspondence between Van Gogh and his brother, Theo, in which the Post-Impressionist painter seemed to suggest what happened without directly dropping the "pact of silence".
Along with the usual haunted hotels and quirky restaurants, the state boasts a post-impressionist highway fence maintained by the Permanent Wave Society, a three-story house built entirely of beer bottles, a forest of historic tree graffiti, and of course the worlds biggest buffet in Las Vegas.
