Another flower that reminds me that spring is underway is our native primrose primula vulgaris.
The wild primrose, primula vulgaris, a true British native wild flower, has declined in the wild since the end of the Second World War, as farming radically changed its ways and domestic and industrial development spread themselves farther and wider as each decade passed.
A big mistake is made between pot primroses, which I reckon are sold as short-term self-destruct plants, and the good old primula vulgaris, or common primrose, that was found in our hedgerows many years ago.
