Probabilist

n.
1. Philosophy The doctrine that probability is a sufficient basis for belief and action, since certainty in knowledge is unattainable.
2. Roman Catholic Church The system of moral theology that applies when the lawfulness of an act is uncertain, by allowing an actor to follow an opinion favoring personal liberty if that opinion is solidly probable, even though an opposing opinion, favoring law, is more probable.

In response to Franklin's assertion that some priors have no weight, but that others can be assigned weight based on a statistical syllogism and that this method is only available to the logical probabilist, it is argued that this formulation is based on the concept of frequency probability and thus does nothing to help the case of logical probability.
And, of course, what economist wouldn't relish this revelation of the great debt owed to this early financial economist by the mathematical physicists and probabilists to be added to the well-known debt owed to Malthus by the Darwinian biologists?
A probabilist, as opposed to an analyst of evidence, may prefer to speak in terms of propositions rather than of evidence; one could refer to the proposition that evidence arises.
