promLos conciertos de música clásica más conocidos en Inglaterra son los llamados Proms (o promenade concerts), que tienen lugar en el "Royal Albert Hall" de Londres, aunque también se llama así a cualquier concierto de esas características. Su nombre se debe al hecho de que en un principio el público paseaba durante las actuaciones; en la actualidad parte de la gente que acude a ellos permanece de pie. En Estados Unidos se llama prom a un baile de gala en un colegio o universidad.

PromEn Grande-Bretagne, un promenade concert ou prom est un concert de musique classique, ainsi appelé car, à l'origine, le public restait debout et se promenait au lieu de rester assis. De nos jours, une partie du public reste debout, mais il y a également des places assises (plus chères). Les Proms les plus connus sont les Proms londoniens. La dernière séance (the "Last Night of the Proms") est un grand événement médiatique où se jouent des airs traditionnels et patriotiques.

promProm (promenade concert) ist in Großbritannien ein Konzert, bei dem ein Teil der Zuhörer steht (ursprünglich spazieren ging). Die seit 1895 alljährlich stattfindenden Proms (seit 1941 immer in der Londoner Royal Albert Hall) zählen zu den bedeutendsten Musikereignissen in England. Der letzte Abend der Proms steht ganz um Zeichen des Patriotismus und gipfelt im Singen des Lieds "Land of Hope and Glory". In den USA und Kanada steht das Wort für promenade, ein Ball an einer high school oder einem college.
