Spinning disc reactor (SDR) technology, which was invented in the 1970s by Protensive co-founder and former ICI engineer Colin Ramshaw, works by passing liquids across the surface of metal discs which can be set to spin, heat and cool at optimum speeds.
Using their extensive knowledge and expertise in the science and technology of food production, the Food Chain CIC has worked with Protensive and the Food Processing Faraday (FPF) to investigate potential applications of "spinning disc" technology for the food industry.
Mike Jones, Protensive chief executive, said: "The grant makes a significant difference to the momentum of our company.
