A TYNESIDE doctor is trading the stethoscope for a pugil stick as she takes up her role as a star on television show Gladiators as Amazon.
Apparently her favourite challenges are The Gauntlet - where the gladiators use ramrods and power-pads to prevent the contender from entering the next section - and The Duel - in which the contender and gladiator stand on podiums and try to knock each other off with pugil sticks.
The first day began at noon and consisted of a pugil stick competition and an 8-kilometer run in uniform.
