electromagnetic interference
(redirected from Radio Frequency Interference)

Also found in: Medical, Acronyms, Encyclopedia, Wikipedia 0.01 sec.
Any electromagnetic disturbance that interrupts, obstructs, or otherwise degrades or limits the effective performance of electronics and electrical equipment. It can be induced intentionally, as in some forms of electronic warfare, or unintentionally, as a result of spurious emissions and responses, intermodulation products, and the like. Also called EMI.

UQ Communications has chosen to adopt NEC's recently developed PasoWings BS202 mobile WiMAX base station, the world's first WiMAX base station equipped with UL-BF technologies, which are used to improve communications speed and increase base station coverage area by reducing radio frequency interference between base stations and data transmission terminals.
The manufacturer of thermally conductive plastics and heat transfer solutions also noted that its proprietary CoolPoly grades have no antenna effect (there is no amplification of electromagnetic or radio frequency interference and no magnetic coupling) and repel both heat and aluminum.
The author also explores how networking protocols associated with wireless mesh networking would operate in home, office, government agency, and higher education environments, addressing potential and actual problems associated with the scale of the network, security, radio frequency interference, and other issues where they arise.
