Compton showed us that two classes of active galaxies emitted gamma rays - blazars and radio galaxies," said Luigi Foschini at Brera Observatory of the National Institute for Astrophysics in Merate, Italy.
[ILLUSTRATION OMITTED] When he examined the VLA images, however, Rudnick counted 30 percent to 40 percent fewer radio galaxies than normal in the direction of the cold spot.
Their report, which will appear in Astrophysical Journal Letters, suggests that radio galaxies may serve as beacons for finding other primordial groupings of galaxies.
