Ramsay (r m z ), Sir William 1852-1916. British chemist who discovered the noble gases argon (with Lord Rayleigh), helium, neon, xenon, and krypton. For this work he was awarded the 1904 Nobel Prize for chemistry. In 1908 his research showed that radon was also a noble gas. |
