Raqs sharqi is the most popular type of dance in the United States today.
The second form - a more theatrical version - is called raqs sharqi (oriental dance).
The dance called raqs sharqi in Arabic (eastern dance), has varied origins, which some Egyptians predictably trace to the pharaohs.
