Red Square
A large open area in central Moscow bordered by the Kremlin, Lenin's tomb, St. Basil's Cathedral, and the GUM department store. Major Soviet holidays, such as May Day and the commemoration of the Russian Revolution (November 7), were marked by elaborate parades in the square.
