We wandered through the Reptile House then on towards the red apes.
A few decades ago, the northeastern portion of the island was home to more than 20,000 of the red apes.
Rosemary, 21, from Alnwick, is spending two months at the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, near Sandakan, in Borneo, helping the 37 staff care for orphaned and injured red apes in their natural environment.
