The Forum features a lecture by Dr Koichi Chiba from the National Metrology Institute of Japan (NMIJ) on the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS), a directive adopted by the European Union in 2003.
Aa Some of the most well-known laws in this area include the European Union's Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive, or RoHS, and the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive, or WEEE, which sets collection, recycling and recovery targets for electronics throughout the European Union.
To round down the week the icing on the cake came my way via an IT industry magazine which informed me that Brussels had produced a series of changes to the Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive RoHS which, if approved, would impose further costs to our business.
