Hull  (hl)
1. A city of southwest Quebec, Canada, opposite Ottawa, Ontario. It has a hydroelectric station and pulp, paper, and lumber mills. Population: 74,200.
2. also King·ston-up·on-Hull (kngstn--pn-hl, -pôn-) A borough of northeast-central England on the northern shore of the Humber estuary at the influx of the Hull River. Chartered in 1299, the city has been a major seaport since the late 1700s. Population: 301,000.

American public official who as secretary of state (1933-1944) laid the groundwork for the founding of the United Nations. He was awarded the 1945 Nobel Peace Prize.

Police said that the robbers entered in a rice mill at Mahmoodkot and police besieged the rice mill from all sides.
Earlier in the week, Chavez nationalized a rice mill owned by giant US food company Cargill Inc and sent troops to other rice mills in a drive to control supplies of the grain; Smurfit Kappa, a major cardboard packaging company, said it was in talks with Venezuela after authorities took over about 3,700 acres (1,500 hectares) of forestry land with a value of about 500,000 euros.
Polar, which is the country's largest private sector employer and produces and distributes everything from beer to flour, has vowed to take legal action over the rice mill takeovers.
