Defence QC David Burns, for mran Shahid, suggested that at he time of the alleged abduction in March 2004 Mr Wallace was rinking heavily, smoking annabis and was taking largactyl for paranoia.
A survey of more than 100, 000 European students showed that 29% of 15-16-year-old girls in the UK were binged rinking in 2003, compared with 26% of boys.
The only other areas where more girls admitted binged rinking than boys were Ireland (33% compared with 31%) and the Isle of Man (30% compared with 26%).
