Designed by Eero Saarinen, the former Bell Labs is where some of the world's foremost inventions and research concepts were developed, including the transistor, microwave transmission and cellular telephone technology.
Its design included a simple rectangular tabernacle lined with a grid of reflective windows (in which Saarinen included a cross) and a matching freestanding bell tower.
