95 ISBN 978-0932863-58-4 (paper) The Trial of Saddam Hussein is an account by an Iraqi lawyer who was in some measure an insider in the judicial proceedings that led to the execution of Saddam Hussein in Iraq.
In 1992, former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein ordered the execution of 40 Iraqi merchants, accusing them of destroying the national economy under the embargo that was imposed on Iraq after the Iraqi invasion to Kuwait in 1990.
It is significant that Saddam Hussein was held in custody by the Americans during his trial, and a country needs to have sovereignty based on its own military forces, not those of a country not invited in.
