The liturgical music is interleaved both with the plainsong sources on which it is based - the Spanish choir Schola Antiqua sings those, while Noone's Ensemble Plus Ultra takes the polyphonic settings - and with interludes by the wind instruments of His Majestys Sagbutts.
The instrumental pieces, including the splendid "Suite in D Minor 'For his Majesty's Sagbutts and Cornetts'" by Matthew Locke, provide some variety.
Add to that the fact that they secured His Majesties Sagbutts and Cornetts to accompany them on period instruments from the Orchestra of the Golden Age,as well as four internationally recognised soloists from Pro Cantione Antiqua-tenors James Griffett and Ian Partridge, and basses Michael George and Stephen Roberts, along with guest sopranos Ruth Holton and Cecilia Osmond -and this certainly promises to be a quite stunning performance.
