Saint John River

Saint John River
A river, about 500 km (310 mi) long, rising in northern Maine and flowing northeast into New Brunswick, Canada, then generally southeast into the Bay of Fundy. It was discovered in 1604 by Samuel de Champlain.

Horizontal, paired terraces showed that a lake had flooded the Saint John valley between Grand Falls and Edmundston, while to the south, terraces above the river sloped south and were often unpaired, so appeared to be fluvial in origin.
One of his favorite anecdotes recalled the first few years of settlement in the Saint John Valley when he found that "everyone was so poor there was no need for money.
