We use a tool called a seismometer to record the shaking and then try to understand what happened before and during the quake.
But, no seismometers sent to the moon to date have been sensitive enough to hear the "hum".
One of the most well known undersea seismometer projects is the Hawaii2 Observatory (H2O) located in deep water between Hawaii and California.
