A company named Sholes and Glidden developed perhaps the first modern typewriter in 1874.
1872: The first practical typewriter was patented by Christopher Sholes in Milwaukee, USA.
Groomsmen were Matthew Jones, brother of the groom, of Benton, Arkansas; Tyler Sholes of Starkville; Matt Thurmond of Chicago, Illinois; Jeff Neimeyer of Louisville, Kentucky; Jay Grisham of Pearl; and Will Brantley of Jackson.
