The excellent book called The Golden Bough by Sir James Frazer gives ample evidence from credible sources about burning Red Heads and women of all classes being forced to sell their bodies and give the money to the Temple.
Sir James Frazer, author of The Golden Bough, 'rarely left his Cambridge college' but gleaned his information for this and Totem and Exogamy from a variety of sources, including Roscoe, a missionary to the Baganda.
