If gales and rain were not enough to convince you it's winter, six whooper swans on the Conwy estuary, Slavonian grebes off Aber and a great northern diver off Rhos Point confirm it.
A dead Slavonian grebe was found in a fisherman's net in Lake Myvatyn in Iceland.
But the Slavonian grebe, whose range extends at its southernmost margins to Scotland and breeds on only a few lochs, is less frequently seen.
