As long ago as 1890, a social commentator wrote an article for the Manchester Guardian after conducting surveys, etc, and he did this because gangs of youths were roaming the streets of Manchester carrying weapons.
It's so easy for social commentators to get all morally high and mighty when it comes to money ("he's filthy rich, money can't buy you love, etc"), but these people never seem to mention what a real force for good money can be when it's in the right hands.
