The existing sodium lamps on the campus streets would give way to LEDs.
Keep in mind that High Pressure Sodium lamps need to be changed every year or so as they dramatically lose their performance after a growing season or two, resulting in less efficiency and more energy use.
Some other types of lighting to consider are Cold Cathode Tubes, Electro Luminescent Panels, Low Pressure Sodium Lamps, and High Intensity Discharge (HID) Lamps.
