The rhetorical role of sola fide in the AC and in the Apology is different.
For example, the Fabrist term vive foy appears as an adaptation of the scholastics' fides viva (which for the scholastics was faith primed by charity) and as distinct from Luther's sola fides (justification by faith alone, that is, without the works of charity).
Yet their useful, sympathetic book compiles evidence for the extent to which relationships between evangelical Protestants and Roman Catholics, particularly in the United States, have changed dramatically over the past half-century, and offers "an assessment of the contemporary Roman Catholic Church" based on "the classic ideals of the Protestant Reformation" (sola scriptura, sola fide, and the priesthood of all believers).
