The scientific study of caves is known as speleology.
Such modern technology allows caves to be measured to the nearest millimeter, according to Andy Eavis, president of the International Union of Speleology, the world caving authority, based in France.
Discovered in 1930 by a local gardener, today it has a proper reception area with seating, refreshment dispensers in the lobby, a small mineral sample shop, where you can buy souvenirs and samples of various minerals (up the stairs to the right as you enter), and a fairly interesting museum of minerals, with samples, photographs of speleology, geology, and mining.
