The distribution of Spodosol soils in Southern Michigan: A climatic interpretation.
These orders were classified into ordinal categories based on increased fertility and decreased acidity: 0 = histosol and spodosol, 1 = entisol, 2 = inceptisol, 3 = mollisol, and 4 = alfisol.
Spodosols are soils commonly located in the northern Great Lake States and having a spodic horizon.
