I saw three of the spoilt votes from Monday's vote-counting were due to the name 'Reynolds' being inked in.
Electoral services manager Debbie Frost said: "It would appear there are fewer spoilt votes than last year, which suggests simplifying the voting instructions has made a difference.
The Government are expected to overhaul the Scottish elections following the record number of spoilt votes in the May ballot which saw Alex Salmond's SNP edge out Labour by just one seat.
