Stackage - the length of the shade when fully raised

To design a Roman shade, first determine the finished shade width, finished shade length and stackage (1).
The shade stackage should be at least 1" shorter than the valance length so that the stackage is hidden when the shade is fully raised.
The stackage, or inner portion of the shade when drawn, must fold an even number of times.
