60s CHRISTINE BEST, 65 Started at Ashford Hospital, Middx, in 1965 CHRISTINE, from Staines, Surrey, worked as a nurse in the NHS for almost 30 years before retiring in 1994.
The animal was found in an alley by a member of the public in Staines, Surrey, last month and moved under cover before being taken into the care of experienced bat conservation volunteers.
The funeral was held in Hereford on Tuesday but there will be a memorial service in Staines, Surrey, on a date to be announced.
