I will never forget the joy on the faces of the oppressed hill folk as they ran from their cottages, bursting into song, breaking into spontaneous poetry, cloaks and stovepipe hats hurled to the heavens, the day they realised their saviour had come.
The moggy turns up at their house with a magical stovepipe hat on his head and some chaotic fun in mind.
I recalled the last time I had seen him, at Royal Ascot, in the tallest stovepipe hat you've ever seen, like the one Abe Lincoln used to wear, complete with bullet holes.
