strange quark
n. Abbr. s
A quark with a charge of - 1/3 , a mass about 400 times that of the electron, and a strangeness of -1. See Table at subatomic particle.

strange quark
A quark with an electric charge of -1/3 and a mass of 391 electron masses, greater than that of the up quark and down quark, but smaller than that of other quarks. The presence of a strange quark contributes strangeness of -1 to the physical system containing it, while a strange antiquark contributes strangeness of +1. See Table at subatomic particle.

quark - (physics) hypothetical truly fundamental particle in mesons and baryons; there are supposed to be six flavors of quarks (and their antiquarks), which come in pairs; each has an electric charge of +2/3 or -1/3; "quarks have not been observed directly but theoretical predictions based on their existence have been confirmed experimentally"

The standard model of particle physics predicts the existence and mass of this particle, which is a baryon, like protons and neutrons, and is made up of two strange quarks and a bottom quark.
There is no clear subprocess which seems to dominate the total amplitude, but there is speculation that strange quarks [15] and sea quarks [16] play an important role.
There are six types: up, down, beauty, truth, charm, and strange quarks.
