Tendencies toward invoking supernaturalistic realms beyond the lived world of ordinary space-time evolved after the fall of Hellenic civilization.
Though I find futile the attempt to appropriate religious language and imagery to the Humanist movement, the critique against religious humanists is solely linguistic, since it is obvious that no Humanists in the movement are theistic or supernaturalistic.
Naturalism, in denying our dualistic transcendental ambitions, gives us just one world and therefore assigns it greater value than do its supernaturalistic competitors.
