1. (Biography) John. born 1934, British racing motorcyclist and motor-racing driver. He was motorcycling world champion (1956, 1958–60) and Formula One world champion (1964), the only man to have been world champion in both sports
2. (Biography) Robert Smith. 1803–64, British journalist and novelist, who satirized the sporting life of the English gentry in such works as Jorrocks's Jaunts and Jollities (1838)
