The current swine flu pandemic is not the first global outbreak of swine influenza - in fact there was a major outbreak as long ago as 1918, when pigs suffered almost as much as humans during the post-war health crisis.
According to the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), 729 positive cases of swine influenza were registered in Kabul, Bamyan, Balkh, Herat and Parwan provinces in the past two days - 312 of which among foreign military forces based in the country and the rest were Afghans.
He said that reports on the disease of swine influenza ( A- H1N1) have not registered any death from this disease among Umrah performers and visitors of the Prophet's Mosque during the holy month of Ramadan.
