Switchel During the Depression, my mother made switchel and haymaker's switchel: 1 gallon water 2 1/2 cups sugar 1 cup dark molasses 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar 2 teaspoons ground ginger Haymaker's switchel 2 quarts water 1 cup brown sugar 3/4 cup vinegar 1/2 teaspoon ginger 1/2 cup molasses Mix and refrigerate.
Haymakers' Switchel 1 cup brown sugar 3/4 cup vinegar 2 quarts water 1/2 teaspoon ginger 1/2 cup molasses Combine and cool.
